Show Notes

Story of Foothills Church
  • Foothills began in a school, setting up and tearing down for two years.
  • The building that serves as our campus was previously a family entertainment center filled with bowling alleys, arcade games and a go cart track.
  • We needed a space for the service. We hung lights, pipe and drape, chairs, and a stage.
  • We were using every available space, if it had walls we were using it.
  • As we grew, we needed to build out our kids space.
  • For us, it happened a little at a time.
  • Early on, we were building a campaign for the future.
  • There were three services: 8:30, 10, 11:30 services.
How do you cast vision for building campaigns?
  • Just like Nehemiah, it first starts with a burden, what is the problem you are needing to solve.
  • When you aren’t in a permanent facility, you are always looking for how you take your next step.
  • We wanted to create an environment that was appeasing.
  • You want to give your people a reason to do it and to do it now.
  • We do a one-year commitment for vision giving for the future.
  • You want to teach the Bible when pitching your vision for the future.
  • As you do this, you are enlisting help. You need a realtor, you need an architect that you can trust, and you need a bank that will give you some markers of how much you can borrow. After that, you narrow down to the budget you can afford.
Quotes
  • It’s not about coming to church, it’s about being the church.
  • Just like Nehemiah, it first starts with a burden, what is the problem you need to solve.
  • If you are going to be busy with the right things you step into another world when you talk about buildings and renovations.
