Being Busy With Our Finances

In episode 16, Pastor Greg and Pastor Trent talk about being busy with our finances. When you are in ministry, the conversation on money can be messy, but it doesn’t have to be. When you become good with money and teach your church to be good with money, then we are practicing stewardship how  Jesus teaches us to do so.

Show Notes

What are we not trying to do first?
  • Talk about poverty theology or prosperity theology
  • Give you a 10-step guide, etc.
Why do we want to steward our money well and talk about money?
  • The Bible tells us to
  • We want to model it to our church
  • Luke 16:11 — “If then you have not been faithful in the unrighteous wealth, who will entrust to you the true riches?”
Why don’t we talk about this subject in the church more?
  • We don’t preach on things that we are not good at.
  • Sometimes we are in debt ourselves and have made mistakes.
  • No one has taught us how to steward money.
What does the Parable of the Talents teach us about stewardship?
  • Stewardship is more than just managing what we have been given.
  • Stewardship is turning what we have been given into more.
  • As pastors, we must have the wherewithal
  • Proverbs 13:22 — “The prudent leaves a legacy for his children’s children.”
What are our stages of stewardship?
  1. Get out of debt.
  2. Put a plan in place for managing your resources (live within your means).
  3. Put a plan in place for turning what you have into more (Parable of the Talents, Proverbs 13:22).
  4. Create space in your life and resources to use your life and resources for the good other people.
  5. Leave a financial legacy for our children’s children.
